The Sound of Wonder

This lp is super duty tough work! Finders Keepers are releasing record after record of essential... erm... sounds of wonder - "fuzzy, scuzzy, twang-happy, spaced-out and funked up urdu-grooves complete with harmonium melodies and driven by some of the most random factor, freakish, finger-numbing, percussion that the South East Asian mainstream has ever had to offer". BUY!

Grohs Screenprinted

I spent Friday at Print Club messing about with the Grohs portrait I did - I added another layer of detail by drawing in sharpie straight onto acetate which was more successful than I thought it might be. In hindsight it would've looked much better if I'd made the lighter brown just off white - it's too dark - but I was happy enough with the experiment to do it again in the future.

Apologies for the shitty picture quality - I have a hangover from a heavy day boozing (and seeing Quack Quack - the drummer is the nuts) and can't be arsed to make them look better.

Drew Millward print

The last few days have been a little nautically intense and frankly if I never cut out anything ever again it'll be too soon. Epic Octopus Attack has finished me off... I sat down and worked out my profit margin against raw materials/Print Club membership/hours spent on each finished piece and worked out I'd be a lot better off getting a paper round. Oh well it was fun. Well sort of. The first batch has been sent - thanks for being patient consumers and I hope you all enjoy.

I finally received my new Drew Millward Letterpress print and it's a facking beauty. Right I'm off to nurse my blistered cutting hand and drink lager-pop...

Shark!

I'm still totally immersed in half cut bits of card and tentacles so here's a quickie post of a shark painting from a forthcoming poster.

More Nautical Adventures...

Okay first up the Octopus MuTate piece is now available for sale in my shop. Secondly please enjoy the second painting that I did especially to be used for a poster as part of a forthcoming show. More of them to follow as well as more information.

If You Could print series

It's been a while since my last post because I spent a long weekend in Edinburgh and I have two poster show deadlines so I've been mad-stoopid-silly busy. Well quite busy anyway. More details to follow but at the moment it's a bit hush hush. Oh and the MuTate piece is about to drop and due to overwhelming demand (pre-orders and everything!) I'm gonna do a few more to quell the baying masses. Still only gonna be about 35 I think because they are a pain in the arse to cut out. Or at least that's what my art assistant* says...

We did manage to stay the night in a hotel with a window view of my favourite shop Analogue and I picked up an excellent collection of miniature prints from the If You Could team. Featuring twelve small versions of the monthly screenprints they put out in collaboration with some superb illustrators and designers including the epic work of Dan Mumford, Tom Gauld, Rob Ryan's and loads more it's worth grabbing if you missed the proper prints. I managed to snaffle a couple of rejects from the bins at Print Club but I probably shouldn't mention that. Ahem...
