'The tattoo parlour's warm and so I hustle there inside'

This is your last weekend to get to the exhibition 'A Study of Sports and Leisure' at the Exposure Gallery - featuring three of my original illustrations - more info here.  This is the second illustration from my trashy set based on Medusa and the Minotaur.  This is 'The tattoo parlour's warm and so I hustle there inside'; another Tom Waits inspired title.

The originals are for sale and there are limited edition giclee prints too.  They'll be available in my shop after the show finishes.

'Oh the Horror' screenprint and competition

Competition time!  My screenprint from this years Pick Me Up exhibition for Puck Collective's 'Puckleduster' tattoo parlour is finally available online!  And to celebrate I'm going to be giving a copy away to anyone with a passing knowledge in horror movies. The print is available to buy here.

The 'Oh the Horror' screenprint is inspired by all my favourite horror movies; I illustrated a number of objects and signifiers from a range of horror films then took my favourites to design this print. There are 18 references in all and for a chance to win all I need you to do is name ONE of the films referenced below in the comments section.  Each person that names one film referenced in the print will be entered into a prize draw for the print.  Once a film has been correctly referenced subsequent entries of the same film will not be entered into the prize draw so in effect there are just 18 prize draw opportunities up for grabs.  I'll run the competition for about a week or until all 18 films have been correctly referenced.

That all sounds incredibly complicated but I think we'll be okay... GO!

THE WINNER IS TANIS EVE!  Well done!

'The jukebox has to take a leak and the carpet needs a haircut'

There's only one week left to get to the exhibition 'A Study of Sports and Leisure' at the Exposure Gallery - featuring three of my original illustrations - more info here.  Typically I went down a slightly trashier route for my subject matter by taking two creatures of Greek mythology and giving them a bit of a contemporary makeover.  This is 'The jukebox has to take a leak and the carpet needs a haircut'; the titles for the illustrations came after I'd finished all three.  When in doubt Tom Waits.

The originals are for sale and there are limited edition giclee prints too.  They'll be available in my shop after the show finishes.

There's some really great illustration in the exhibition from the likes of Sarah Ray, Karin Söderquist, Åsa Wikman, Mr Millerchip and lots more besides.  GO!

Puck portraits for Oh Comely magazine

Puck Collective were asked to do portraits of each other for Oh Comely magazine.  I decided to do a lino-cut for my portrait of the incredibly talented illustrator Samuel Esquire.  Here's a finished scan of the lino-cut print and a slightly tweaked and coloured version for the magazine.  I only had a few hours to turn it all around and I kind of fucked up his nose hence the slight tweaks. The magazine is available now here and in decent magazine retailers and book shops.
