'The Absurd Balloon' cover

This is a cover I've illustrated for The Absurd Balloon story I'm working on.  I've also updated my website to include all the illustrations so far.  Still hoping to write some little nonsense poems to accompany each piece.

'Jim O'Rourke' illustration

Jim O'Rourke is one of my favourites EVER.  I would've done just about anything to see him perform 'Eureka' at the ATP in Japan this year [short of paying for a flight and ticket].  Here is some wobbly footage of him playing 'Not Sport, Martial Art' and 'Fuzzy Sun' in Manchester from 2000.

My illustration has made him look a tiny bit like a frog; a conscious nod to the brilliant 'Halfway to a Threeway' ep*.

* This is a LIE.

'Zombie Alphabet' on TypeTown

Chris at TypeTown got in touch a few weeks ago about including my 'Zombie Alphabet' on his wonderful website which showcases the worlds most colourful illustrative alphabets.  Naturally I was more than happy to oblige - click here to see it.  I'm still tempted to do some horrible poems to accompany each letter and put out a zine or something but I seem to be very busy at the moment mostly not drawing...

Aquatic Life taster

I've been working on a secret project for the last month or so and I can't reveal much about it at the moment but it's really exciting.  Here is a sneaky peak of some of the more generic illustrations as a taster.  Hopefully I'll be able to reveal a little more in the coming months but everyone cross your fingers - this could be BIG!

'Animal Pile On' screen-print

I just found a couple of these prints left over from the Print Club exhibition 'Blisters On My Fingers' during a studio clear out so I've put them in my shop.  Click here to see more.

Oh I sewed a fox!

So yesterday I had an almighty hangover and couldn't face any illustrating despite some deadlines looming and I've been meaning to do some sewing for a while so thought I'd have a go.  This was my second attempt (my Miffy looked well wrong...) and it's a bit better than I expected so I think I'll have a go at something a little more ambitious soon.

'Look Out Mountain, Look Out Sea' illustration

This is a work in progress that I started in Scotland a few weeks ago.  Not entirely sure what it'll be as yet and there are elements I like and other parts I'm not so happy with but in terms of sitting down and inking something for a couple of hours I think it's rather good.  The title is taken from the name of a Silver Jews album;  I love the Silver Jews - 'How to Rent a Room'.

I've been slightly neglectful in updating the blog of late - I've lots on the go - most of which I can't tell you about yet.  Soon...

'The Absurd Balloon - The City in the Sky'

Here's another Absurd Balloon illustration from my on-going occasional series - more here.  I was going to post up the black and white version but the colour version dicks all over it in this instance.  Think I'm going to have to go back to the early ones and apply colour where necessary.  Along with writing some accompanying words.

Very Good Plus banner

I'm a regular lurker and occasional contributor on Very Good Plus a forum dedicated to music and the joys of vinyl.  A couple of years ago they asked me to if I'd like to illustrate a new banner for the site and after a couple of false starts came up with this.  I'm hoping there'll be some screen-printed t-shirts soon.
