Competition time! My screenprint from this years Pick Me Up exhibition for Puck Collective's 'Puckleduster' tattoo parlour is finally available online! And to celebrate I'm going to be giving a copy away to anyone with a passing knowledge in horror movies. The print is available to buy here.
The 'Oh the Horror' screenprint is
inspired by all my favourite horror movies; I illustrated a number of
objects and signifiers from a range of horror films then took my
favourites to design this print. There are 18 references in all and for a chance to win all I need you to do is name ONE of the films referenced below in the comments section. Each person that names one film referenced in the print will be entered into a prize draw for the print. Once a film has been correctly referenced subsequent entries of the same film will not be entered into the prize draw so in effect there are just 18 prize draw opportunities up for grabs. I'll run the competition for about a week or until all 18 films have been correctly referenced.
That all sounds incredibly complicated but I think we'll be okay... GO!
THE WINNER IS TANIS EVE! Well done!

"The Shining", ducky.
The Shining, The Ring, Halloween, Army of Darkness, The Wicker Man, Tenebrae. That's as good as I can guess...
Tjieu: Good work [on five]!
You're only meant to guess one each though; I guess you've made it easier for four other people assuming they don't get your incorrect guess!
"Don't Look Now"
Night Of The Living Dead...
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
'The Ring'
I'll be intrigued to see which part of it is represented by one of tijeus guesses, but dont wan tto say any more and ruin the game.
Love the print btw
Okay so far we have;
Andrew Carlin - 'The Shining'
Tjieu - 'Halloween'
Chris - 'Don't Look Now'
Jake - 'Night of the Living Dead'
Dongle - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'
CK - 'The Ring'
ALL CORRECT!
CK - Some of the references are quite ambiguous in-so-much as they feature in a lot of films. Straight razors feature in a bunch of Giallo films but I've got a specific movie in mind for it...
'The Blood on Satan's Claw'
(thanks for the clue!)
Awesome poster, BTW.
I was also going to guess which film the typewriter is from, though I checked my guess and it's a totally different model. Can't wait to see all of the correct answers.
Misery
Angel Heart
These are all good;
Andrew Carlin - 'The Shining'
Tjieu - 'Halloween'
Chris - 'Don't Look Now'
Jake - 'Night of the Living Dead'
Dongle - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'
CK - 'The Ring'
Unknown - 'Blood on Satan's Claw'
MW - 'Angel Heart'
Unfortunately P Rath 'Misery' is incorrect...
Ten slots left!
BTW. I'm 'Unknown'. Hopefully my name is showing now?! :)
Has anyone said The Wickerman yet?
Suspiria
Andrew Carlin - 'The Shining'
Tjieu - 'Halloween'
Chris - 'Don't Look Now'
Jake - 'Night of the Living Dead'
Dongle - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'
CK - 'The Ring'
Julian - 'Blood on Satan's Claw'
MW - 'Angel Heart'
LDJB - 'The Wicker Man'
Ryan D - 'Suspiria'
Okay eight slots to go. I'd be extra impressed if someone got the slip of paper in the bottom left but it's not so easy to see...
I got the slip of paper, that was good one! But Suspiria is one of my tops. Just couldn't pass it up!
The devil rides out
Tenebre..
Children of the Corn
Curse/Night of the Demon?
Todd Sweeney?
CORRECT
Andrew Carlin - 'The Shining'
Tjieu - 'Halloween'
Chris - 'Don't Look Now'
Jake - 'Night of the Living Dead'
Dongle - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'
CK - 'The Ring'
Julian - 'Blood on Satan's Claw'
MW - 'Angel Heart'
LDJB - 'The Wicker Man'
Ryan D - 'Suspiria'
Tanis Eve - 'Tenebre'
Millie K Night - 'Night of the Demon'
CLOSE ENOUGH
Alex Morris - 'The Devil Rides Out'
'The Devil Rides' isn't a direct reference but you can have it as the goat/ram's head and pentagram do fit the bill. The goat's head isn't a direct reference as such; it just sits perfectly in the middle of the design and fits the horror theme...
Unfortunately Children of the Corn and Sweeney Todd are incorrect.
Hope it's not too late to enter. I was going to say The Exorcist, The Shining, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Just Before Dawn
CORRECT
Andrew Carlin - 'The Shining'
Tjieu - 'Halloween'
Chris - 'Don't Look Now'
Jake - 'Night of the Living Dead'
Dongle - 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'
CK - 'The Ring'
Julian - 'Blood on Satan's Claw'
MW - 'Angel Heart'
LDJB - 'The Wicker Man'
Ryan D - 'Suspiria'
Tanis Eve - 'Tenebre'
Millie K Night - 'Night of the Demon'
Dylan - 'The Exorcist'
CLOSE ENOUGH
Alex Morris - 'The Devil Rides Out'
'Just Before Dawn' is incorrect.
Okay one final day then I'll do the draw.
Here are some clues for the final objects;
One is from a sequel that was released in 1978...
One (two of the objects in fact) feature in a scene with a really young Rik Mayall.
The axe isn't from The Shining (it's actually a slightly different model to the one in The Shining) it's from a film that has been remade and released this year.
Two of the objects (they're the same) are from the master of suspense.
The final (and very small) object is from a film with an amazing soundtrack by Krzysztof Komeda.
And that's your lot!
An American Werewolf in London?!
YES!
Good work!
And the winner is Tanis Eve!
I'll email asap (assuming I can find a contact email).
Congratulations!
