'Kurt Vile - Smoke Ring for my Halo' - My favourite albums of 2011

It's about that time of year when people start wheeling out their lists of favourite albums from the year in an attempt to appear vaguely with it and I'm no exception. Except this year I'll be illustrating all of my favourites throughout the course of this week.

In addition I'm going to have a competition. If you leave a comment in any of this weeks blogs telling me your favourite album of 2011 you will be automatically entered into a lucky dip the winner of which will receive their very own cack-handed black and white illustration of their favourite album by me.

First up is Kurt Vile's 'Smoke Ring for my Halo' lp which is probably my actual number one for the year. It was something of a slow-burner for me taking a long time to sink in but now it has I can't be without it. I also got to see Kurt Vile and the Violators in Oakland way back in July and he was the bee's cock.

At the risk of entering way, way too early...

my favourite album of 2011 was Black Up by Shabazz Palaces.

I think I would have to go for 'Nostalgia: Ultra' by Frank Ocean

Hi there, my favourite album from this year is Bon Iver's "Bon Iver" on Jagjaguwar. It made summer very memorable.

I would agree with 'Smoke Ring for my Halo', and would also throw in Balam Acab's 'Wander/Wonder'. 'Black Up' is also fantastic...

Gotta be Colin Stetson's 'New History Warfare Vol 2: Judges' for me - definitely my most listened to album...and a much more interesting album to illustrate compared to Shinji Masuka's 'Woven Music' ;)

I am gonna say Gucci Mane and Future "Free Bricks" largely because I want to see you illustrate this in all it's ridiculousness.

Commenting here because I want to with the art! I'm going to say Bon Iver "Bon Iver" just because it was the album I listened to the most.

Hmmm... my favorite album might have been Bill Callahan's "Apocalypse" but the cover is boring as shit.

Dammit, none of the albums that I really liked this year have good covers and you already did the Vile album. Either that, or they are already illustrations, so...

I'm going with Death Grips - ExMilitary
