This looks like the start of a child/adult book, if Mitch would agree. I like how you've added "heft" to the beard, also the small details that come forth as you examine it -- the mustache lifters, the relaxed look of the animals as they have supreme confidence in their pilot. The hair on his arms, and the 5 o'clock shadow. Genius!
